Out & About

The tree decoration event for trees to be sold at the Timonium Fair Ground for Kennedy Krieger's Festival Of Trees 2005 event was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who donated many long hours planning and lost large chunks of sleep to help—Sabrina, Sherin, Deanna, Mom, Grandmom, Grandpop, Allegra, and of course, Glen (he was actually working with the company that put on this event, but after changing three trees for us and replacing the stand four times, I thought he should be mentioned as one of our "special" helpers!).

The Baltimore Writer's Conference 2005 at Towson University
This event was a huge success with guest speaker Alice McDermott. Writer's Lair CEO, Shana Yarborough, gave one-on-one critiques to budding writers and was a part of the publishing panel that day. Kwame Alexander was also present for the day and below he takes a picture with local poet, W.H. Stevens.

Capital BookFest 2005 (Writer's Lair sponsored tent)
The Bookfest brought together a huge number of talented authors. In the Writer's Lair tent there were many authors spanning the genres from fiction to children's to poetry. The list included Washington Wizards player, Etan Thomas reading from his latest book, More Than An Athlete; Jessica Care Moore; Moira Egan; Erin Murphy; JaHipster; Hiram Larew; Reginald Harris; and Forestine Bynum. Our tent also provided an open mic session for teen poets and their talent surprised everyone in the audience! The festival ended with a Poetry Slam at Infusions Tea Cafe.

Writer's Lair presented "Inscribe" a "live movie" featuring the company's fourteen (12 newly signed) authors at the spectacular FX Studios in Hunt Valley, Maryland. This event was sold out with standing room only. It was a phenomenal showcase of talented authors and their forthcoming books. It was the literary event of the 2005!!! The highlighted authors were Kwame Alexander, Allegra Bennett, Cheryl Snell, Sandra Jones, Deanna Nakaido, Geoffrey Hoffman, Sherin Nicole, Monique Woods, Jessica Williams, Nicole Brown, Mary Talalay, Melinda Condray, Trish Reeb, and Shana Yarborough.
